Karen spent summers in South Newfane since birth and moved up permanently from Massachusetts in 2013 when she and her husband, Tim, decided to simplify their lives. An early and avid reader and a lover of libraries, she spent her teen years prowling the stacks at Springfield's Central Library, and her summers reading in the adjacent Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden. Over time, Karen developed a career in health care administration in the Central Massachusetts area and was a small business owner of a day spa for five years before moving to Vermont.

A graduate of Lesley College with a major in American Studies and a minor in Creative Writing, Karen's passions are reading, writing, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She and her husband are stewards of the South Newfane Village Little Free Library. Once settled in South Newfane, Karen first volunteered at Moore Free Library, then served as librarian at Jamaica Memorial and subsequently at Dummerston's Lydia Taft Pratt Library. She received librarian certification from the State of Vermont.

Her goal at Dover Free Library is to oversee the "front end" of the library including assisting patrons, managing interlibrary loans, curating the collection, and other projects to support the Library Director.
